Who We Are

Idea-Tec is an upcycling company focused on revolutionizing the way waste valorization and recycling are done. Today, we manufacture sustainable paints made from polystyrene foam or expanded polystyrene (EPS) waste, which has contributed to recycling many tons of this material and reducing the planet’s carbon footprint.

Mission

To help our clients reduce their carbon footprint and embrace the circular economy through common activities like maintenance and facility setup, all at a competitive price.

Our History

Idea-Tec is an upcycling company founded in 2014 by chemists Constanza Cifuentes and Cristina Acuña with the goal of creating recycling technologies using science and innovation as tools of transformation, turning non-recyclable waste into something much better and introducing it to the circular economy.

After three years of research and development, they realized they had created a process that allowed them to transform polystyrene foam or expanded polystyrene (EPS) into paint.

With the process developed at the laboratory scale, it was time to scale up, which led them to spend much of 2017 working on converting small paint cans into gallons and larger containers.

With this stage complete, they launched their first product, Groen floor and marking paint, which at the time and to this day is used by many companies to paint while reducing their carbon footprint simultaneously. The success of Groen’s validation spurred the company’s first sales, which began in 2018 and have continued to this day.

With the goal of increasing the possibilities for recycling polystyrene foam, in 2019 Idea-Tec focused on expanding its product range by creating a new process that transforms polystyrene foam into household paints. This technology culminated in the launch of Évol in 2020, a paint that not only invites you to improve a wall but also the world.

And the story continues—do you want to join us?
